Here is some useful information while looking at the Tandem side of a sync line. This was made available when we had problems with UPS's Large File facility.
UPS 128KB | |
UPSTEST | Currently uses the 128KB facility inbound to BRZU but receives on the 56KB facility on NVYU. |
UPSSEL | Has been migrated to the 128KB facility. Does not receive from AT&T. |
UPS | Has been migrated to the 128KB facility to send into AT&T but receives on 9.6 dial on NMYU. |
UPS 256KB | |
UPSLF | New large file production account used for sending and receiving messages up to 256 Meg |
UPSLFT | Test account for large file service |
128KB facility utilizing Motorola FRADS with ISDN Dial Back-up. Bridgeton is the primary site with a PVC to Winward, (Alpharetta), Georgia. The Motorola Frads automatically monitor the PVC for integrity, if the Winward site is out of contact the Bridgeton Frad will automatically switch to the secondary site for UPS at Mawah, N.J. If the Bridgeton Frad loses the Frame connection from the C.O. it will automatically dial out to Winward using the ISDN dial back-up. This has all been tested successfully by both UPS and Motorola.
The 128KB circuit runs through special high speed telenex cards, (Bridgeton has a spare card), that were purchased just for this application. The telenex port is listed as GMS-BRZ/BRY-LN07501 on the Bridgeton switch. The facility terminates on the Tandem on port SN227. This can be accessed at:
Once on the Tandem there are two main things to verify are active and running, Jay's code and the physical port.

256KB facility utilizing Adtran DSU's with ISDN Dial Back-up. Bridgeton is the primary site with a factional T-1 to Winward, (Alpharetta), Georgia. The Adtran DSU's automatically monitor the facility for integrity, If the Bridgeton DSU loses the Frame connection from the C.O. it will automatically dial out to Winward using the ISDN dial back-up. This has all been tested successfully by both UPS and AT&T.
The 256KB circuit runs through special high speed telenex cards, (Bridgeton has a spare card ), that were purchased just for this application. The telenex port is listed as UPS Large on the Bridgeton switch. The facility terminates on the Tandem on port SN223. This can be accessed at the address following.

There are several commands that can be used to display the current status of the UPS connection on the Gateway machine. First there is the command linemon which can be used to display the current status of the connection between the SUN server and the Tandem. When using linemon ensure that the fepfc process's are running for all associated lines. You can use linemon upssel to display information for the UPS 128KB and linemon upslf to display information for the 256KB connection. If you need to stop, or start the connection for either of these lines on the SUN there is a command you can use to either stop, or start, all associated lines for a given account. To stop all SUN process's for the UPS connection you can use stop_3770 followed by the account name, (such as stop_3770 upssel). To start the process's you can use start_3770 followed by the account name, (such as start_3770 upssel). Since both of these connections support multiple accounts you do not have to start all the processes individually for each account since both the start_3770 and stop_3770 will start all the associated process's for all the accounts on a given connection.
