If a line is not working properly and cannot be fixed by other means (e.g., repumping), it can be disabled completely by editing its /usr/lineNN.N/config file:
DIALIN_ONLY: yes DIALOUT_ONLY: yesThe line is now mutually excluded from being either dialin or dialout-only, and thus can't do anything.
After making this (or any) change to the config file, you must run ckconfig lineNN.N to reread the file.
